So last Wednesday, my mom and I hiked to the summit of Mount Timpanogos. My mom has been going on a hike every week in preparation for this 16 mile round trip, and somehow convinced me to come along. I hadn't been preparing, so it was quite difficult, but actually not as bad as I was nervous that it could be. Obviously, because I survived and I was afraid that I would get halfway up and just not be able to go any farther. <br />
I was really glad I went. It seriously is a beautiful hike, and being on top of the summit is an awesome feeling. I just feel like I accomplished something really awesome. :) I really recommend this hike and will go with you if you want! --at least, in a little while. I still need a few weeks to forget how sore I was after, and then I'll be happy to go ;)<br />
The day we went was pretty hazy because of smoke in the air from fires (stop burning, Utah!) so the views weren't as incredible as I'm sure they can be, but the wild flowers were beautiful, and just the general scenery is great. And that view from the toilet... Unbeatable! :) and we saw a moose, which was cool. in any case, I think the haze helped it to not be scorching hot, which was nice. It was really an enjoyable day to spend the whole day on a mountain with my mom. Definitely something to do again sometime. <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-JD8ipu01Grg/UDRDKsy2wYI/AAAAAAAAASo/DUVR56Z6KpA/s640/blogger-image-395653991.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-JD8ipu01Grg/UDRDKsy2wYI/AAAAAAAAASo/DUVR56Z6KpA/s640/blogger-image-395653991.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EmUXh5KBPO4/UDRDLEX6P3I/AAAAAAAAASw/66rupVnOx6c/s640/blogger-image--584369637.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EmUXh5KBPO4/UDRDLEX6P3I/AAAAAAAAASw/66rupVnOx6c/s640/blogger-image--584369637.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-mHmxAUv9dJI/UDRDLnObIGI/AAAAAAAAAS4/KXoUwBqyKH0/s640/blogger-image--932701831.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-mHmxAUv9dJI/UDRDLnObIGI/AAAAAAAAAS4/KXoUwBqyKH0/s640/blogger-image--932701831.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-NsmiYeRMMrw/UDRDMGgF6DI/AAAAAAAAATA/B2C3bW5LdfU/s640/blogger-image-1878693736.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-NsmiYeRMMrw/UDRDMGgF6DI/AAAAAAAAATA/B2C3bW5LdfU/s640/blogger-image-1878693736.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jyCSvSwuiU8/UDRDMhhXyTI/AAAAAAAAATI/KYKYUY95WDo/s640/blogger-image--171688378.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jyCSvSwuiU8/UDRDMhhXyTI/AAAAAAAAATI/KYKYUY95WDo/s640/blogger-image--171688378.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-hTv6J_tik40/UDRDNBMz17I/AAAAAAAAATQ/cYfdetYnx4Y/s640/blogger-image--1528235503.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-hTv6J_tik40/UDRDNBMz17I/AAAAAAAAATQ/cYfdetYnx4Y/s640/blogger-image--1528235503.jpg" /></a></div>Benji and Mikkelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09430647197399682359noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7923500618633520327.post-2176681170607574532012-08-16T19:38:00.001-07:002012-08-16T19:38:48.055-07:00Summer "Staycation"Instead of an away vacation this summer we spent a week at mom and dad's while Lindsey and Bryon were visiting from Washington. It was just as good as a "real" vacation! <br />
We went to Timp cave, Thanksgiving Point, Silver Lake for 4 wheeling and canoeing, and played lots of fun games. Mom and I did an extra hike to Bell Canyon waterfall- really pretty waterfall! I touched it. :) there was a gorgeous sunset at Silver Lake. Lindsey does a great impression of the "warning steep cliff" sign, don't you think? That was on the way to Timp cave.<br />
It was just a lot of fun to spend quality time with all the fam. Especially when we played Just Dance and I won :) <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-zdiVqPIDf6U/UC2urfb5WzI/AAAAAAAAAR4/ocSQJqEvEEQ/s640/blogger-image--1682004102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-zdiVqPIDf6U/UC2urfb5WzI/AAAAAAAAAR4/ocSQJqEvEEQ/s640/blogger-image--1682004102.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-isZdW6nk02U/UC2usA1AeII/AAAAAAAAASA/XngvkK8spnU/s640/blogger-image-1795918240.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-isZdW6nk02U/UC2usA1AeII/AAAAAAAAASA/XngvkK8spnU/s640/blogger-image-1795918240.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_QBvLYJ8e7U/UC2usoQxNMI/AAAAAAAAASI/mqk3pixeY8o/s640/blogger-image-1197577900.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_QBvLYJ8e7U/UC2usoQxNMI/AAAAAAAAASI/mqk3pixeY8o/s640/blogger-image-1197577900.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Lgd0EWAAELo/UC2utAgwC7I/AAAAAAAAASQ/dLaDbDmeXVg/s640/blogger-image-1735997049.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Lgd0EWAAELo/UC2utAgwC7I/AAAAAAAAASQ/dLaDbDmeXVg/s640/blogger-image-1735997049.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D2SbwyWiJdI/UC2utm237JI/AAAAAAAAASY/F-oQekXRmdc/s640/blogger-image-1575611173.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D2SbwyWiJdI/UC2utm237JI/AAAAAAAAASY/F-oQekXRmdc/s640/blogger-image-1575611173.jpg" /></a></div>Benji and Mikkelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09430647197399682359noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7923500618633520327.post-75723036054695724172012-07-19T20:42:00.001-07:002012-07-19T20:42:14.382-07:00Budding artist? :)So actually got off pinterest long enough to do a crafty project. :) so excited how this turned out. We've needed something to spice up our wall for a long time. <br />
<br />
This was so easy and inexpensive. I just got 3 foam boards from hobby lobby for $1.60 each and some acrylic paints. I used a ruler to mark dots with a pencil 2 inches apart on the boards. I mixed the paints into the shades I wanted and used a potato stamp (half a potato cut so there's a raised circle on it) to make the dots. For now we just hung them up on the wall as is, but we're going to go to home depot and get some plexiglass cut to the right size and use some studio clips to make it classier. Turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself. :)<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-SHTz7RiD9q8/UAjTkmJOMbI/AAAAAAAAARk/bX7xxDavwTg/s640/blogger-image-1164983625.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-SHTz7RiD9q8/UAjTkmJOMbI/AAAAAAAAARk/bX7xxDavwTg/s640/blogger-image-1164983625.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-G1YRRsK6Nwo/UAjTk3R1goI/AAAAAAAAARs/O_UDSo3NLPE/s640/blogger-image-707945736.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-G1YRRsK6Nwo/UAjTk3R1goI/AAAAAAAAARs/O_UDSo3NLPE/s640/blogger-image-707945736.jpg" /></a></div>Benji and Mikkelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09430647197399682359noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7923500618633520327.post-69378294969738295772012-07-05T17:25:00.001-07:002012-07-05T17:25:24.410-07:004th of July4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! Sure, it would work someplace where people actually know how to drive . . . and someplace where there's not huge throngs of cars for 15 minutes every hour (between classes).<div><br /><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hCHKLzAkohY/SqAABxYz5SI/AAAAAAAAAGY/mb8m4OziAjg/s320/IMG_0077.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377297985517643042" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">It's kind of hard to see in the picture, but the sign says </div><div style="text-align: left;">"Back-in angle parking </div><div style="text-align: left;">It's as easy as 1-2-3</div><div style="text-align: left;">1. On the day I took this picture, there were 5 cars parked and only 1 had backed in. We were most excited about the size of the bathroom (unlike our last one where your knees hit the counter while sitting on the toilet . . . ). We love how much more space it has than an apartment, and that we're not surrounded by other people. There are 5 guys that live beneath us, and sometimes we hear them, but we probably bug them more, honestly, with our loud speakers . . . Then there are two houses next to us, one with 13 guys and one with 12 girls, giving us 30 students total that we manage. We have to deal with all the complaints about everything that goes wrong, but it's definately worth free rent. :-) </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Benji and I were called to be nursery leaders in our new ward. That makes for fun Sundays. On average we have about 18 kids, and there are only us, one other couple, and one Sister. But it's normally only hard when there are a lot of "cryers." (which actually happens a lot, because we have a lot of brand new kids that still can't say bye to their parents).</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>The semester has been really busy for us, but a lot of fun too. We're super excited for warm weather (p.s. it snowed yesterday in Rexburg), and I'm starting to get super excited for graduation! (December)</div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Benji and Mikkelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09430647197399682359noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7923500618633520327.post-82024397395375492092009-01-14T18:12:00.000-08:002009-01-14T19:42:48.538-08:00Junior Recital Clip: Tambourin Paraphrase<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzQIIKxzAeB800gxOkuxDRdayS5_5xYOvMgtRJc__OlLt7dHCOho2ApHxR6TkiLnCwH-mKkhNvu35E0tsbPxQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>Benji and Mikkelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09430647197399682359noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7923500618633520327.post-26231270509388854122008-12-16T17:20:00.000-08:002008-12-16T17:23:03.960-08:00Benji as Santa<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_hCHKLzAkohY/SUhUWn6jYQI/AAAAAAAAAEs/5cocFJV-YQg/s1600-h/SSPX0154.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_hCHKLzAkohY/SUhUWn6jYQI/AAAAAAAAAEs/5cocFJV-YQg/s320/SSPX0154.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280563310740332802" /></a><br />So for our ward party, Benji was Santa Claus. . .<div>:-) He did a great job, even though some of the little kids cried like Katie. </div><div>Haha.</div><div><br /></div>Benji and Mikkelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09430647197399682359noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7923500618633520327.post-87200209158588750502008-11-06T11:26:00.001-08:002008-11-06T11:50:01.115-08:00Junior Recital Next Saturday!<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hCHKLzAkohY/SRNJ8RtCQuI/AAAAAAAAAEk/WdRXqDqeQDY/s1600-h/Recital+Poster1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265633689219515106" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 215px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hCHKLzAkohY/SRNJ8RtCQuI/AAAAAAAAAEk/WdRXqDqeQDY/s320/Recital+Poster1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_hCHKLzAkohY/SRNI6arImSI/AAAAAAAAAEc/usR14sh1t4c/s1600-h/Logo.jpg"></a>My recital is in less than two weeks now!
