Woohoo! So last Wednesday, my mom and I hiked to the summit of Mount Timpanogos. My mom has been going on a hike every week in preparation for this 16 mile round trip, and somehow convinced me to come along. I hadn't been preparing, so it was quite difficult, but actually not as bad as I was nervous that it could be. Obviously, because I survived and I was afraid that I would get halfway up and just not be able to go any farther.
I was really glad I went. It seriously is a beautiful hike, and being on top of the summit is an awesome feeling. I just feel like I accomplished something really awesome. :) I really recommend this hike and will go with you if you want! --at least, in a little while. I still need a few weeks to forget how sore I was after, and then I'll be happy to go ;)
The day we went was pretty hazy because of smoke in the air from fires (stop burning, Utah!) so the views weren't as incredible as I'm sure they can be, but the wild flowers were beautiful, and just the general scenery is great. And that view from the toilet... Unbeatable! :) and we saw a moose, which was cool. in any case, I think the haze helped it to not be scorching hot, which was nice. It was really an enjoyable day to spend the whole day on a mountain with my mom. Definitely something to do again sometime.

Summer "Staycation"
Instead of an away vacation this summer we spent a week at mom and dad's while Lindsey and Bryon were visiting from Washington. It was just as good as a "real" vacation!
We went to Timp cave, Thanksgiving Point, Silver Lake for 4 wheeling and canoeing, and played lots of fun games. Mom and I did an extra hike to Bell Canyon waterfall- really pretty waterfall! I touched it. :) there was a gorgeous sunset at Silver Lake. Lindsey does a great impression of the "warning steep cliff" sign, don't you think? That was on the way to Timp cave.
It was just a lot of fun to spend quality time with all the fam. Especially when we played Just Dance and I won :)

Budding artist? :)
So actually got off pinterest long enough to do a crafty project. :) so excited how this turned out. We've needed something to spice up our wall for a long time.
This was so easy and inexpensive. I just got 3 foam boards from hobby lobby for $1.60 each and some acrylic paints. I used a ruler to mark dots with a pencil 2 inches apart on the boards. I mixed the paints into the shades I wanted and used a potato stamp (half a potato cut so there's a raised circle on it) to make the dots. For now we just hung them up on the wall as is, but we're going to go to home depot and get some plexiglass cut to the right size and use some studio clips to make it classier. Turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself. :)

4th of July
4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! And making awesome jello just made it that much better. BBQ with friends, jello, and fireworks seems to be all I need in life. :)

Catch Up
Once again, it's been a long time since I've updated this...
We've been having adventurers!
Skiing, moving pianos, shooting, hiking...
What else do you need? :)

October 2011
Fall is so fun! We did lots of fun stuff, but I only got a few pictures. These are of the pumpkin walk in North Logan - any group of people can submit a scene (based on a theme) created mainly from pumpkins!
The Gorilla was part of the zoo scene that our ward did and WE painted it! :) We didn't help with the minions or angry birds, but just thought they were so cool I had to post them. :)
We went hunting the last two weeks in a row on the general deer hunt near Strawberry Reservoir. We pretty much froze, and didn't have any luck, but it was still fun! Better luck next year, I guess!

Tweet tweet!
So these birds made a nest on a ledge that's right outside of our apartment. There are cute little chicks in it. :) It's funny because every time we come in or go out the mama and papa fly away and if you stand in the doorway, you can watch them try to come back again and again, but when they see you still there they fly right away again.
Cute little birdies!

Happy Birthday, Benji!
Wow! Benji is 27! I wrote a song:
It's raining, it's sprinkling
Benji is wrinkling!!! hahahaha
nah, he's not that old. ;)
I made him a really super cool cake that looks like a golf course. I'm probably way too proud of it...
In other news... there is no real other news, I guess life right now is kinda repetitive. Sleep, work/school, sleep, work/school repeat.
....
Oh, I just remembered something else! Benji got chosen for a teaching assistantship in the Fall. Yay! That means they are going to pay his tuition and he gets to teach 5 "skills" classes (like tennis, basketball, and some other sports) and have lots of fun! woot.
That's all for this post. Until next time!

Hunting Trip October 2010
We went hunting last weekend with Benji's family. Benji had one of 70,000 deer tags and he was one of the lucky (or skilled) hunters that got one!
This is only Benji's 2nd deer, so the small 3-point is pretty impressive!
He shot it from about 120 yards. This photo is a reenactment; when it actually happened, I had to be quiet, so I couldn't get my camera out (but I WAS there when he got it). The red circle is where the deer was bedded down.
I kept joking that I was going to "shoot" a deer too -- with my camera. I did get a few pictures, but not any good ones (besides those of Benji's deer). But I like this sunset (much easier to shoot because it doesn't run so fast!) :-)
Graduation Pictures
Since I'm no good at blogging.... these pictures are from a LONG time ago. But I thought it's better late than never to post pictures! These are from each of our graduations.
Benji graduated in July with his Bachelor's of Science in Psychology.
And Mikkel graduated in December 2009 with a Bachelor's of Musical Arts, Percussion Performance.
Now we've moved on from the tiny town of Rexburg, to Logan! Benji's started his Master's program in Sport Psychology at Utah State University. We love it!

London and Spain!!!
There's a whole bunch more pictures than these... but here's just some of my favorites. Hopefully later this week I'll get around to posting some more.
In front of Buckingham Palace
Classic

Anybody guess London Bridge?? I did too... but I guess not.
This is Tower Bridge. London Bridge is just a normal bridge.
Well, it's a pretty cool bridge I guess, but this one is more photogenic.

3 months later...
Wow, I really need to get better at this blog posting thing...
I don't have any pictures on the computer I'm at right now, so this will just have to be a text update.
Mikkel graduated (YAY!!) in December and is now working for the Salt Lake Express (the shuttle service between Rexburg and Salt Lake) as a reservationist. If you want a friend discount to ride the shuttle, call me!
Benji has 2 more semesters before graduating. It's coming so fast! He's applied to grad school, and we're hoping to find out in April ish where he gets accepted. Our top choice is the U of U. Pray for us!

Pictures coming soon!

October 2009
Halloween was fun. Mikkel played in the Halloween concert, so we didn't get to go to any parties. And we didn't even get any trick or treaters. :-( But we wat
ched a really scary movie
called Orphan (edited) with our good friends the Kings, and we carved really sweet pumpkins.
Benji strained his LCL in his right knee and has been hobbling around on crutches for a week and a half. Hopefully it'll be better in a few days!
Mikkel's Senior Recital is two weeks from Wednesday, and graduation is getting closer and closer! We can't believe it!
Also, Mikkel will be in Salt Lake with the orchestra on tour, playing this year's Sacred Music Series - with text by Elder Bednar. There is a performance on the 14th in the tabernacle that will be awesome! Tickets are still available by calling (801) 570-0080.

Oh Rexburg . . .
It's kind of hard to see in the picture, but the sign says
"Back-in angle parking
It's as easy as 1-2-3
1. Signal
2. Stop
3. Reverse"
Just out of curiosity, has anyone else ever seen a street sign say "it's as easy as 1-2-3!" hahahahaha.
And guess how many people are actually going to back in? On the day I took this picture, there were 5 cars parked and only 1 had backed in. We'll see what happens when Fall semester starts and all the people come back . . .
It kinda reminds me of the time Rexburg put flashing lights in the road by the crosswalk (incidentally on this same street), and apparently forgot that it snows in Rexburg. 3 guesses what happened after the first big snow when the snow plows came . . .

Our New Place!
We moved in about 3 weeks ago now, but we were out of town for a while, so it's taken us a long time to finally get stuff together. We live in Stonebrook Apartments now, and we really like them. Here are some pics.
It's pretty much just a regular place. We were most excited about the size of the bathroom (unlike our last one where your knees hit the counter while sitting on the toilet . . . ). Our apartment is the handicap accessible apartment so it's even bigger than normal. I'm way excited about the kitchen too - now we have a dishwasher and disposal! :-) Oh the simple joys in life.
